Sometimes being a kickass camgirl involves doing things that pretty much nobody would have ever thought was important. I figured this out the hard way as I built up experience during my early days in the webcamming business. I had read LOTS of camgirl advice sites that told me to make sure my lighting was good, and that I had toys to play with for shows, and that I needed a good quality webcam. But the really juicy camgirl tips I had to discover on my own, through lots of trial and error. I’m going to go through 3 of the most counter-intuitive ones in this post, but there are plenty more that I’ll be sharing down the road, so stay tuned.
#1 – Sell Videos For MFC Tokens
This one is something that most newbies to MyFreeCams don’t figure out until they’ve already been pounded down into the camscore basement, but it’s soooo crucial to doing well on MFC, it’s ridiculous. When you debut on MyFreeCams as a model, you need to make sure you have a decent selection of videos to sell, and that you sell them FOR TOKENS only. Why? Because videos are very popular with cam viewers, and selling them for tokens (instead of on ManyVids.com, for example) will bring in lots more tokens than otherwise. All those additional tokens will boost your camscore and cause your room to appear higher on the main page list, which will expose you to more viewers and potentially lead to more tipping, which in turn will boost your camscore even more. If you’re not selling videos for tokens from the get-go on MFC, then you’re crippling your chances of taking off on that site!
#2 – Hold Off On Using Chaturbate Room Mods
Most new cam models on Chaturbate think they need to use room mods from the beginning, but that can actually be a really bad move that can cost you real money. Now, I know that most camgirl advice sites say you should use room mods so that you can keep trolls and lewd viewers under control, but you need to understand that there can definitely be some serious negative consequences to doing so. The main problem is that it’s REALLY difficult to find good room mods on Chaturbate. Most of the time, they’ll end up being assholes to other viewers in your room. They’ll silence people for making even the slightest crude comments like “I wanna lick your nips” or “open bobs.” That’s definitely NOT what you want, as this will dissuade other viewers from participating in free chat for fear of being zotted. And who wants to hangout in a chat room that’s ruled by some trigger-happy overlord mod who can’t wait to use the power he’s been given? This can really turn off viewers (especially the big spender whales) from dropping by your room. Unless you can find a responsible, reasonable room mod (difficult), you should NOT use mods.
#3 – Play Lots of 80s Rock Music In Your Room
It turns out that many of the viewers who’ve got money to buy tokens absolutely love 80s rock songs. They don’t just love them, they’re actually turned on by them! The reason for this is basically that so many of these guys grew up listening to these songs during sex and masturbation, LOL! Yeah, they basically eroticized these tunes to the point where, if they hear them played, they will begin to get seriously aroused. Obviously, the more aroused your audience, the more likely tips will start to move your way. When you combine this with some sexy/sensual dance moves on cam, you’ll likely notice that your viewers will get hungry for more.
So, yeah, when seeking advice and camming tips, camgirls need to remember that not all of the really great tips are intuitive. Many of the best tricks you can use as a webcam model are actually things that almost nobody will have thought of. This is why experimentation is a truly great thing, and I definitely encourage all you guys to keep trying different stuff (no matter how unusual) to find new methods you can use to boost those tokens!
